Back to HOME PAGE back to HOME PAGE ....................... Quote from German poet Rainier Maria Rilke:

"I want to beg you as much as I can...to be patient toward all that is unresolved in your heart, and to try to love the questions themselves...

"Do not now seek answers which cannot be given to you because you would not be able to answer them.

"And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer...take whatever comes with great trust, and if only it comes out of your own innermost being, take it upon yourself and hate nothing."

ABOUT US
Cartwheel's studentsWHAT DOES CARTWHEEL BELIEVE?
We believe that education and economic development are essential to the future of communities in our country, and specifically to the future of children and families who live there. Communities therefore are the key arenas in which the battle to improve education and enhance economic development will be won or lost.

WHAT IS CARTWHEEL'S MISSION?
One of our guiding principles is the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child which clearly states the right of every child to quality basic education. It is our mission to protect this right.
  • Our primary goal is to bring education where it's needed mostin the Philippines. We target areas with lowest literacy rates, thus, our pilot project in Region 10, Mindanao. We aim to increase literacy rates by establishing schools and training teachers for young children, supporting scholars through High School and College, and providing adults with opportunities to become literate and gain skills to achieve economic growth and prosperity.
  • Our support programs are all designed to provide educational opportunities for the individuals and communities we serve. Among these are a feeding program, a community-based literacy and creative arts program, livelihood programs for farmers (in partnership with other organizations and corporations). Of the support programs mentioned above, however, only the feeding program is currently operational.

WHY THE IMAGE OF A CARTWHEEL?
Children do cartwheels. And cartwheels are all about motion. Their movement signifies our desire to move the world forward by reaching children who are starving for learning.
